Scaling Privacy Compliance: Cookiebot Implementation Across a Leading Hospitality Group

A leading hospitality group in Singapore has built a strong reputation within the industry. The group offers a diverse portfolio of residences and brands catering to various market segments. Driven by a commitment to exceptional service and memorable hospitality, the group continues to set benchmarks for quality and innovation.

Project Overview

The Hospitality Group receives bookings from Europe and the Americas, regions with strict data privacy regulations. To comply with GDPR and CPRA requirements, the Group implemented Cookiebot, following Ayudante’s strong recommendation. This implementation enables the Group to:

  • Continue collecting data for analytics and marketing purposes in a compliant manner while maintaining user trust.
  • Reduce the risk of non-compliance and ensure responsible data handling.
  • Ensure consent categories are properly implemented and integrated with Google Analytics 4 for accurate and compliant data collection.

Project Execution

APPROACH

1. Audit & Categorise
Ayudante conducted a comprehensive audit of all websites and booking platforms to identify existing cookies and tracking technologies in use. Ayudante categorised all tools under the four consent groups: Necessary Preferences (Functional), Statistics (Analytics), Marketing (Advertising) covering analytics, optimisation, email marketing, social media advertising, and search advertising tools. Ayudante worked closely with the Group to identify the priority properties for phased development, ensuring most critical sites were addressed first.

2. Deploy Cookiebot across Properties
Ayudante proceeded to implement Cookiebot on all key sites, including online booking platforms and master brand site. Ayudante ensured consistent cookie banner design and functionality across all properties, providing a unified consent experience while enabling centralised management.

3. Consent Configuration & Troubleshooting
Ayudante verified that the Cookiebot script loads correctly and consent categories are captured. Integrated consent logic with analytics and marketing platforms to ensure analytics and advertising tags fire only after relevant consent is given. Despite console and cookiebot deployment issues, Ayudante conducted further investigation to resolve them and ensure consent data is accurately captured.

Project Results

RESULT

  1. Consent-Driven Analytics & Actionable Insights: Google Analytics 4 and other marketing tools now only fire when user consent is granted, providing clean, reliable data for accurate insights. Although overall traffic data dropped by ~30% post-implementation, user engagement and conversion rates increased, highlighting higher-quality interactions. Comparison of purchase data before and after implementing Consent Mode showed no significant difference, indicating that engaged and high-value users continue to consent. Additionally, Consent Mode enabled the Group to optimise media buying strategies, achieving better quality reach and traffic without compromising compliance.
  2. Centralised Compliance & Operational Efficiency: Cookiebot was implemented across all hotel websites and booking engines, ensuring privacy regulations while simplifying consent management across the Hospitality Group’s multiple brands and booking platforms.
  3. Standardised Implementation across Properties: All priority properties now have consistent consent banners and configuration, enabling a uniform approach across the websites.
